In loving memory of Yi-Jing Zeng
Yi-Jing Zeng
(20 Apr 1998 – 27 Mar 2022)
A promising medical doctor and a gifted violinist.
Born in Canberra, thriving with a passion in music and medicine, Yi-Jing Zeng was a medical student of James Cook University JCU) and a member of the Australian Medical Students Orchestra (AMSO).
Her passion in music dated back as early as 2006 when she started playing violin at age 7. Prior to studying medicine, she was a member of the Canberra Youth Orchestra (CYO) as a 1st violinist. After becoming a medical student, she continued pursuing her passion for music, enjoyed playing violin in inter-college music activities, and played with CYO during semester breaks. In 2019, as a 3rd year medical student, Yi-Jing played with AMSO in Melbourne.
It is with great sadness that the medical community lost Yi-Jing on 27 March 2022 whilst she was travelling to her rural clinical placement in Queensland. Her passion for medicine was felt by all who knew her.
Yi-Jing was the Secretary for the JCU Physician Interest Group, and the Mackay Community & Wellbeing Officer for the JCU Medical Students’ Association. Respected by friends, colleagues and patients for her talent, humility, unreserved kindness and dedication to music and medicine, Yi-Jing inspired the many lives she touched.
